Colombo — After months of evading justice, the key suspect in the chilling Middeniya triple murder that claimed the lives of underworld figure Anura Vidhanagamage—widely known as “Kajja”—and his two young children, was finally arrested this morning at Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake.

The suspect, Ishan Madushanka, was taken into custody by officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) shortly after stepping off a flight from Chennai, India. According to police sources, Madushanka had fled to India following the brutal attack, which took place on February 18 in Middeniya—a quiet area shaken to its core by the violence.

Investigators say Kajja was shot and killed at the scene, while his children were critically wounded and tragically succumbed to their injuries shortly after. The horrifying nature of the crime shocked the nation, prompting an intensive manhunt that has now led to a significant breakthrough.

Authorities have yet to reveal full details regarding Madushanka’s motives or possible accomplices, but the arrest marks a major step forward in a case that has drawn widespread public attention and concern.

The suspect is currently being questioned by CID officers, and further developments are expected in the coming days as the investigation continues.
