June 27 – A massive landslide at Getahetta in Uduwana, Eheliyagoda, this afternoon razed at least eight houses to the ground.
Eheliyagoda Divisional Secretary S.A. Dilruk reported that signs of an imminent landslide had been developing since the morning. Authorities took action to evacuate 43 families from the area, providing them with shelter and urgent relief at Siddhartha Vidyalaya Udawana.
The Divisional Secretary also noted that the Getahethi Oya, located in the low-lying area of the landslide, has been obstructed by earth, creating a flood threat.
