A Sri Lankan international student in Perth, Australia, is fighting for his life after being cowardly punched by a stranger, the Daily Mail reported.
Geeth Madushanka, 28, was attacked at a BP petrol station in Langford, Perth, around 10 pm on May 25. Police allege that the 30-year-old attacker, identified as Cyril Benedict Garlett, pushed and then punched Madushanka in the face, causing him to fall and hit his head.
Officers claim that Garlett had already attacked two other men earlier that day. Madushanka, who has been studying in Perth since February, remains in the ICU of Royal Perth Hospital, a week after the incident.
His loved ones are raising money for his treatment on GoFundMe, stating he faces a “long road ahead.” So far, they have raised $36,719 AUD of their $30,000 target, with 550 donations. Garlett has been charged with grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning bodily harm, and criminal damage or destruction of property.
